#Literature: Screenwriters Andrea Berloff & Jonathan Herman, NWA's Straight Outta Compton
- For Fellas, For Ladies, Lifestyle
Vanity Fair Social Club's West Coast Editor Krista Smith hosted the panel with screenwriters Andrea Berloff and Jonathan Herman, nominees for the Best Original Screenplay for NWA's Straight Outta Compton.
Is it terrible that I've met some huge names in the industry and have no problem, but for some reason I was tongue tied to meet them, they were both the nicest people. Honest, direct, and very inspirational.
Andrea Berloff spoke candidly about how she and Cube sat down together to draft the story. She explains how she is deeply involved in the writers guild and board of directors and her career just started to fly in 2010.
Jonathan Herman gave the best advice. "Keep doing it don't get frustrated show your work and screenplays and in the words of Malcolm Gladwell paraphrased, put in the 10,000 hours to become a master of something." He also mentions that he only had creative writing experience prior, so as a writer with a masters in creative writing, I took this advice to heart. This means, there is hope for us new screenwriters. So today, just like every day, I am writing voraciously.
Enjoying my time at #VFSC 2016
